In the visual vocabulary of abstraction, I love to look for meaning, reflections, or narrative. I often thought it’s when you put together random associations you find creativity.

This little piece is a blend of digital resources I had on hand. The chalkboard scribbles are autonomous scribbles from own daughter’s hand. Rendered on an entire chalkboard, she scribbled only as a child can. Each with their own expression, I love how she layered different swipes of chalk. The natural wood provides a sharp contrast and a substrate for a familiar greeting. The tone of the font is balanced with a warm cup of tea. The abstractions are balanced by geometric forms.
I used to collect vintage print and random graphics to use as subjects in collage. I still have trays and boxes of ephemera that I will one day soon assemble for display in wooden boxes or in frames.
